Smokey Bear: The Rudy Wendelin Collection

May 21-31, 2024, The Prescott National Forest and Sharlot Hall Museum are collaborating on a public exhibit to celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday and his lifelong work in wildfire prevention and education. The exhibit will feature 19 reproductions of original Smokey Bear paintings created by artist Rudy Wendelin for the National Wildfire Prevention Campaign, administered by the USDA Forest Service, National Association of State Foresters, and the Ad Council. These painting are some of the most iconic depictions of Smokey Bear. Companion elements to the exhibit will include information, artifacts, and activities for all ages. May 25, 2024, will be free admission at the Museum and Prescott National Forest employees will be on site to visit with guests and at 2 PM there will be a special event lecture presentation about Firewise and fire prevention in the Greater Prescott Area Wildfire Protection and Restoration High Priority Fireshed.
